Butter's Back
It's official. A new study of over 500,000 people determined that saturated fat played no role in heart disease. So, what's considered a healthy saturated fat? Butter, avocado, coconut oil, and palm oil are high on the list, because they are all relatively low in Omega-6 fatty acids that cause inflammation - the big bad precursor to many diseases. The Omega-6 rich oils everyone agrees should be avoided remain the industrialized, highly processed yellow oils found in most snack foods - soybean, corn, Canola, sunflower and safflower oil.
As we all slowly wake up from our low-fat, high-carb slumber, healthy fats will take center stage as the missing ingredient in creating healthy hearts and brains. So, live on the edge and embrace your bread and buddha!
